Welcome to the Corkscrew Rail Trail
The Corkscrew Rail Trail is an unpaved public use recreational trail straddling the towns of Stephentown, Rensselaer County, NY and New Lebanon, Columbia County. The trail is open year round (except during deer hunting season in certain marked sections) for walking, bicycling, horseback riding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile riding. The trail is on privately owned land and available through the generosity and cooperation of the land owners. Please respect the landowners property and the trail rules at all times so that we may enjoy this trail for many years.
How to Get Involved - Trail Supporters and Users
In addition to using and enjoying the trail, there are opportunities to be more involved. There are volunteer opportunities, trail work days, participating in the Corkscrew Rail Trail Association or financially supporting the trail through a tax deductable monetary or in-kind donation. Contact the CRTA to learn about volunteer opportunities.
How to Get Involved - Landowners
Participating in the trail can be a very positive experience. If you own land which was part of the railroad right of way and are interested in learning about participating in the trail, contact the CRTA and check out these resources.
